Collection: Wood

Find here our selection of wooden incense holders, candle holders, and other small crafts.

  • Step I ~ Selecting & Sorting

Each piece of wood is carefully selected by hand, carried (sometimes for many kilometres) back to our form of transport,
and then taken to our workspace to be sorted. For every piece of wood we forage, we also pick up a piece of trash, thanking and caring for Pachamama as She does for us. She also gifts us with beautiful pieces of wood in other places away from the tide lines too.

  • Step II ~ Cleaning

All of our wood is cleaned & treated over a period of 48 hours using washing soda, essential oils & small amounts of bleach to neutralise any bacteria.

  • Step III ~ Drying

We then spend several days moving the wood into sunny spots in the garden to dry off & utilise the UV to disinfect further. Safeguarding the wood at this time proves challenging due to sporadic tropical weather & curious critters in search of new
    places to live.

  • Step IV ~ Chipping, Carving & Drilling

Dead wood is then chipped away before the hand carving & drilling commences. A variety of chisels are used to chip & carve the wood into its desired format and a number of drill pieces & spade bits are used to form inserts for the incense stems, bottle caps & candles.

  • Step V ~ Sanding & Painting

Pieces are then power-sanded, hand-sanded & double/triple coated with either stain, varnish, and/or polyurethane to create
the desired finish & seal the wood.

  • Step VI ~ Finishing Touches

Once dried, all pieces are thoroughly checked for inconsistencies & touched up accordingly. Finally, bottle caps we up-cycle from local cafès & restaurants are flattened, glued into place & set aside to dry.
